Augusta teen ahead of the curve

June 21, 2007

Cody Shafer is just 14 years old but doesn't play like it. As a matter of fact, he doesn't practice like it either.

The phenom hits the course at 10 in the morning and doesn't leave until dark.

That's everyday, even weekends.

It's starting to pay off.

Shafer has been winning tournaments in bunches and got a couple of prestigious invitations recently starting with this weekends future masters in Dothan, Alabama.

When he hits the range to work on his game, cody's goal is pretty simple.

"I'm trying to get my swing perfect. Get it where it's good," said Shafer.

After the future masters this weekend, Cody will start preparing for the USGA's, US Junior Amateur qualifiers and then, in July, he'll head to San Diego for the Junior World Golf Championships.
