Aquinas saw their baseball season come to an end by losing twice to Calvary Day in the Class A state quarterfinals Tuesday. The Fighting Irsih lost game one 4-3 then dropped game two 6-0.
In the opener, Aquinas had a 3-2 lead in the 7th only to see the Cavaliers hit a two run homer to take a 4-3 lead. Then in the bottom of the 7th, the Irish had the tying run thrown out the plate to end the game.
In game two, Calvary Day's Mike Allegretti threw a complete game shutout in winning 6-0.
Despite the losses, Aquinas ended with a 24-7 record, their best in school history.
