Charleston, WV – The GreenJackets (31-13) opened up an eight game road trip on Monday night with a 10-5 win over the top team in the Northern Division, the West Virginia Power (28-13). Clayton Tanner recorded the win for Augusta and the GreenJackets scored double-digit runs for the first time since April 16.

Matt Weston and Brett Pill each drove in three runs for Augusta while Ryan Rohlinger chipped in with two RBIs.

Tanner (5-2) allowed four runs, three earned, on five hits over five innings for his first win since April 29, a stretch of three games and one start.

The GreenJackets took a 4-0 lead after two and half innings but West Virginia plated three runs in the bottom of the third on a three-run homer from Daren Ford and once more in the fourth on a wild pitch to tie the game at 4-4.

Augusta reclaimed the lead in the fifth inning when Rohlinger connected for an RBI double, then two batters later Weston delivered with a two out two-run homer to right to give the GreenJackets a 7-4 lead.

The Power got a run back in the seventh inning on a solo homer from Taylor Graham with one out off reliever Rob Grace to make it 7-5, but that’s all they would get.

Augusta added three more runs in the ninth inning for a 10-5 cushion receiving a two-out RBI hit from Rohlinger and a two-run double from Pill.

Grace worked three innings in relief of Tanner and struck out seven, tying a career high mark. Juan Trinidad pitched the ninth inning allowing a walk and striking out one.

Augusta took a 2-0 lead in the first on an RBI double from Bobby Felmy scoring Emmanuel Burriss from third. Burriss led off the game with a hit then moved to third on two consecutive steals. Weston plated the second run with an RBI ground out.

The GreenJackets got a run in the second on an RBI single from Simmons and then another run in the third when Pill connected for an RBI sac fly to center for a 4-0 lead.

The GreenJackets and Power resume their series Tuesday night with right-hander Henry Sosa (3-0, 0.48) taking the hill for Augusta. West Virginia will counter with lefty Mike Ramlow (2-2, 8.26). Game time is at 7:05 p.m.
