AUGUSTA, Ga.---The Greenbrier Wolfpack are the defending Georgia state champs in 4-A baseball, so excellence is expected. The way they're playing right now is a bit ridiculous though. Greenbrier outscored Thomas County Central in tonight's 2nd round doubleheader 24 to 1. Both games were called in the 5th thanks to the 10 run mercy rule. Nolan Belcher won game 2, allowing just one hit and getting 12 strikeouts in just 5 innings of work. According to coach Rodney holder, Belcher hasn't allowed a run in a month and a half. Belcher says, "We definitely have a team capable of getting a state championship. We just have to keep battling. We got some breaks today. They're(Thomas County Central) are a better team than that, but it worked out good for us."
Coach Rodney Holder says, "1 to nothing would be fine with us. I think its a testament to our kids working hard and coming out and swinging the bats and a lot of good hard work in the batting cage."
Greenbrier next faces Woodland in the 3rd round next Tuesday on the road.
