Ninth-ranked USC Aiken picks up fifth-straight victory

AIKEN, S.C.--Chad Jacobsen and Matt Montgomery drove in three RBI each as ninth-ranked USC Aiken (22-6) rallied from a 3-0 first inning deficit to score 12 unanswered en route to a 12-3 win over Barton College (17-19) in non-conference baseball action on Tuesday night at Roberto Hernandez Stadium. The Pacers win their fifth-straight game and their eighth in the last nine outings.

Dustin Tyra got off to a shaky start, but settled in for his best career outing as a Pacer Jimmy Metzinger’s one out double to left center drove in Zach Boyette in part of a three-run first frame for the Bulldogs. Tyra (1-0) held Barton to three hits over the next 5.0 innings for his first career win. His final line read 6.0 innings pitched, five hits, three earned runs, four walks, and two strikeouts.
