Who could have thought Aiken Tech would be the last team in the area to still be playing basketball? Give it up to the Knights.
After winning the Region 10 title over the weekend, Coach Bruce Capers and the boys are headed to Hutchinson, Kansas for the National Junior College Tournament. Just 16 teams remain, and for the first time since the move to the JuCo Division 1 ranks, the Knights have earned their way in.
While they're new to the finals, winning is the norm with the Knights.
"I knew coming here Coach Capers had a good year last year and bringing in a lot of good players, and I thought from the beginning of the year that we'd have a good team," said Glenn Miller. "I didn't know this good, but I knew we'd be pretty good."
"I think the key this year, especially lately, is that we've been able to stay healthy for the most part," Coach Capers said. "We have a lot of depth. We have an inside presence that we didn't have last year, and the fact the kids have bought into the system."
On the year the Knights are 25 and 8. They'll start double elimination play on Wednesday the 21st against Midland College of Texas.
