Making a coaching change in never pleasant for any school. But for the Augusta State volleyball team, it may have been just what they needed and now, it's paying off on the court.
The Lady Jags are off to an 11-8 start, and in the midst of a three-game winning streak. Ask just about anyone on the team and they'll tell you the difference between last year's 14-win team and this year's squad is this one is confident. Now that confidence is leading to victories.
"We've got a little fire underneath us. We're ready to show them what we've got," said junior Tarah Childress. "We've been talking about for so long and we just really want to go out there and finally do it."
"We're doing really well and the good thing is we're making some changes in our rotation and we're actually seeing the girls respond very well to it," said Bonaventure. "It's actually disrupting the teams that we're playing. So they're expecting to see some kind of rotation but when we go out there, their mouths are dropping to the floor and then they can't respond."
They'll play their next home game tomorrow at Christenberry Fieldhouse facing UNC Pembroke.
