AUGUSTA, Ga. --- After taking a year off to reorganize, the Augusta Colts indoor football program is working to return to the James Brown Arena in 2010. General Manager John Sisson speaks first with News 12.
The Augusta Colts "took a year off" in 2009, sitting out AIFL regular season play, to reorganize management, players, and franchise ownership. Along the way, they have also switched league affiliation: now joining the SIFL (Southern Indoor Football League).
"They players were paid, our coaches were paid, and we ended the season debt free" Sisson commented about the 2008 season. "We are also looking to chip away at the debt from former owners as well" he adds.
Sisson reports that the relationship with management of the James Brown Arena is "going well" and much improved over what he experienced in the past. There is an October 15th deadline in place for the team and arena management to agree on a final contract for the 2010 season. Sisson says he is hopeful the contract will be signed on time.
Meanwhile season tickets are on sale. The Colts are expected to take to the indoor turf in March.
