Affrunti in control after 3 rounds

Augusta, GA (September 26, 2009)…Former University of Illinois golfer Joe Affrunti (Crystal Lake, IL) continues his dominance through three rounds at The Kandy Waters Memorial Classic over the Gordon Lakes Country Club by posting nineteen under par 197.

The former Fighting Illini golfer carded rounds of 64-65-68 and will take a seven stroke advantage into Sunday’s final round over Andrew Svoboda (Larchmont, NY) who finished at twelve under par 204.

Casey Crain (La Combe, LA) finished at eleven under par 205 and will begin the final round eight strokes back while a group of four golfers will begin Sunday nine strokes off the pace after posting ten under par 216 totals. This group includes Jason Dillard (Cullman, AL), Stephen Poole (Aiken, SC), Chip Deason (Lexington, SC) and current NGA Hooters Tour money leader Ted Potter (Silver Springs, FL).

A group of six players will start the final round tied for 8th place after finishing at nine under par 207, ten strokes back of Affrunti. This group includes Andrew Medley (Athens, AL), Michael Welch (Quincy, MA), Michael O’Neal (Jacksonville, FL), Chris Wilson (Dublin, OH), Augusta native Emmett Turner and David Miller (Daphne, AL) whose third round 64 moved him from a tie for 57th to a tie for 8th.

Kyle Bradley (North Augusta, SC) heads up the rest of the local contingency at the Kandy Waters Memorial Classic benefiting the Wounded Warriors after finishing at eight under par 208 while Evans, GA amateur golfer Adam McKenney finished at two under par 214.

Third round tee times will begin at 8:00AM Sunday with the leaders teeing off at 9:30AM.

The total purse for The Kandy Waters Memorial Classic benefiting the Wounded Warriors is $200,000 with $33,566 going to the winner.
