Former Illinois golfer leads NGA Hooters tour event

Augusta, GA (September 25, 2009)…Former University of Illinois golfer Joe Affrunti (Crystal Lake, IL) continues his assault on the Gordon Lakes Country Club posting a fifteen under par 129 total to take the midway lead at The Kandy Waters Memorial Classic.

The former Fighting Illini golfer carded rounds of 64-65 and will take a four stroke advantage into Saturday’s third round over Andrew Svoboda (Larchmont, NY) who finished at eleven under par 133.

Emmett Turner (Augusta, GA), Stephen Poole (Aiken, SC) and Chip Deason (Lexington, SC) each posted two round totals of ten under par 134 and will begin the weekend rounds five strokes off the pace while Casey Crain (La Combe, LA) finished at nine under par 135, six strokes back of the leader.

Chris Wilson (Dublin, OH) and Jason Dillard (Cullman, AL), whose second round included a hole-in-one on the 211 yard par 3 sixth, will start Saturday’s third round seven strokes back after posting two round totals of eight under par 136.

Kyle Bradley (North Augusta, SC) heads up the rest of the local contingency at the Kandy Waters Memorial Classic benefiting the Wounded Warriors after finishing at six under par 138 while Evans, GA amateur golfer Adam McKenney made the cut on the number at one under par 143.
