Lights out play in first round of Kandy Waters Memorial

Augusta, GA (September 24, 2009)…Phillip Pettit Jr. (Murfreesboro, TN) and Joe Affrunti (Crystal Lake, IL) share the opening round lead at the Kandy Waters Memorial Classic over the Gordon Lakes Country Club after posting eight under par rounds of 64.

The duo will take a one stroke advantage into Friday’s second round over Chip Deason (Lexington, SC) and Kyle Bradley (North Augusta, SC), each carding rounds of seven under par 65 while Andrew Medley (Athens, AL) finished at six under par 66 and will start Friday two strokes off the pace.

A group of six golfers finished at five under par 67 and will begin the second round two strokes back. This group includes Jason Dillard (Cullman, AL), Andrew Svoboda (Larchmont, NY), Patrick Wilkes-Krier (Orlando, FL), Casey Crain (La Combe, LA), Scott Diel (San Diego, CA) and Evans, GA amateur golfer Adam McKenney.

Emmett Turner (Augusta, GA), William Lanier (Augusta, GA) and Stephen Poole (Aiken, SC) head up the rest of the local contingency at the Kandy Waters Memorial Classic benefiting the Wounded Warriors after each finished at four under par 68.

Round two will begin at 7:30am Friday morning. The cut will be made at the conclusion of round two with top 60 players and ties making the cut.
