Candice Warthen without a doubt one of the best basketball players in the CSRA. But at the Nike Nationals, she's just a small fish in a big pond.

"That's why I'm kind of glad I play AAU," said Warthen. "Because with my high school team, I can pretty much do whatever I want so it's a whole lot easier. but with the AAU team, it makes me work a lot harder and get better at my game."

She'll have plenty of tough competition when she plays her college ball at the University of Arizona, more than 1,600 miles away from home.

"At first, I was scared because it was so far, but I like all the coaches and had a good time when I went," said Warthen. "I'm trying to go somewhere where I fit in and I'm comfortable at so I chose Arizona because I think I fit in there."

because of NCAA rules, Arizona coaches can;t speak to Warthen all week. Instead, all they can do is sit and watch their future point guard. It's tough on them but also for Warthen, who craves feedback on her game.

"After the game, I want to get feedback from a college coach of how I played," said Warthen. "I want to talk to them and ask them what I did wrong and what I've got to do to get better so it's kind of tough."

But despite that, Warthen already knows what she wants to work on in her final season at Warren County.

"Everything. Defense, mostly, but I want to work on everything."
