Odom gets 2-year contract extension

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina coach Dave Odom has received a two-year contract extension that will keep him with the Gamecocks through the 2009-2010 season.

The university's executive committee of the board of trustees approved the deal in a 30-minute session. Odom will not receive a raise on his base salary of around $170 million a year.

Odom makes about 700-thousand dollars a year including television, radio and other compensation.

The 64-year-old Odom has won the past two NIT championships with South Carolina. The Gamecocks fell to Number 9 Kansas 70-to-54 on Sunday. They open the Southeastern Conference season against Georgia on Wednesday night.
