A big day in the life of Jakar Hamilton today. The former Strom Thurmond football star making a big decision of where to play his college ball. He narrowed his choices to Georgia and Alabama. Today, he made his final choice: the University of Georgia.
Needless to say, Georgia Bulldog fans pretty pleased with Hamilton's decision. After graduating from Strom Thurmond, Hamilton took the junior college route, playing at Georgia Military College. He has one more year to play at GMC and then will join the Dawgs in 2010. One would think it'd be hard for him to focus on this upcoming season but Hamilton definitely has his mind in the right place.
"I put quotes on my wall from different coaches, keep a bible, and just try to stay focused," said Hamilton. "Now that I have mentioned to the world that I'm going to Georgia, it's easy for me now to stay concentrated on my goals."
Hamilton cited the Georgia coaching staff and the academics as the biggest reasons for why he chose UGA. He plans to play defensive back when he arrives in Athens next spring.
