The All-Star break is here for the Augusta GreenJackets. While most oft he team will be relaxing over the next two days, Juan Perez will be playing baseball, representing the team at the All-Star game.
Perez is the lone GreenJackets player heading to Charleston, West Virginia for the game. After a slow start, he's starting to turn it on, leading the team in homers and second in RBI. All good signs for a minor league player who is just thrilled to be even considered one of the best in the league.
"I'm excited. It's a chance of a lifetime," said Perez. "To be in pro ball and play in an all-star game. I'm excited."
As well as competing in the All-Star game, he will also take part in the home run derby. Reliever Daniel Runzler was also selected but has been called up since and will not participate.
