Lexington, KY – The Augusta GreenJackets and Lexington Legends battled all afternoon in a see-saw game on Sunday at Applebee’s Park but the Legends prevailed with four runs off the GreenJackets bullpen, taking a 6-2 decision over Augusta. The Legends denied the Jackets their fifth win in a row, which would’ve equaled their longest win streak of the season.

With the game knotted at two in the eighth, Justin Fitzgerald allowed a leadoff single to Michael Diaz. After Diaz was bunted over to second, Steve Brown’s single scored the eventual go-ahead run. With two outs in a one-run game, Pedro Gonzales smacked a hit that glanced off the third base bag toward the GreenJackets bullpen to score a run. Brandon Barnes followed with a double off new pitcher Trey Webb to bring two more runs for the Legends.

Lexington led first with a solo home run in the third coming from Ronnie Ramirez but the GreenJackets would tie in the fifth and take a lead in the seventh. Charlie Culberson’s RBI single with two outs in the fifth tied the game. With two down in the seventh and a runner at third, Dom Duggan reached on a throwing error by shortstop Ramirez to allow the go-ahead run to score.

The Legends struck back in the seventh on a dribbler groundout to third by Kyle Miller with the bases loaded to even the score at two apiece.

Both starters earned no-decisions and neither one pitched badly. Ari Ronick of the GreenJackets was lifted with one out in the sixth after allowing just one run on four hits without walking anyone. He struck out seven, one off his season-high. Brad Dydalewicz – making his third start since coming off the disabled list – threw 4.1 innings of one-run ball, allowing three hits and two walks with three strikeouts.
