COLUMBIA, SC--If you want to know just how much impact Greenbrier's baseball team has had in the college ranks, look no further then the NCAA tournament. Rich Poythress in Georgia, Jeff Rowland and brandon Cumpton at Georgia Tech and Nolan Belcher at USC. All played together for the pack, no wonder they won a few state titles.

Belcher is paying early dividends in Columbia where he's had an outstanding first year with the team. While the 4 and 4 record and near 5 earned run average might not be the numbers he's use to, his 70 strikeouts and 76 innings pitched are. Belcher may find himself in the bullpen for the regionals. Despite not being your typical big guy college pitcher, Belcher is hoping be a big impact player.

"Hopefully a big impact, hopefully I can have a good start if I pitch and when I pitch and hopefully we can win that regional." said Nolan Belcher "I guess you don't see too many small guys out there pitching but I don't really think about it too often. Maybe hear a few jokes now and then from the fans and stuff but besides that I don't think too much of it."

Of course Belcher really made a name for himself with Greenbrier. A 47 and 2 career record with over 500 strikeouts. Oh yea, he also won a couple of state titles while with the pack.
