AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta State’s Shannon Wilkerson has been named the Division II position player of the year and national player of the year by Rawlings and the American Baseball Coaches Association.
Wilkerson led the Jags and the Peach belt in several offensive categories while setting team marks in a bunch of them as well.
Wilkerson hit .441 while cracking 24 homers and driving in 82 runs. Some major league scouts feel Wilkerson could be drafted in the top seven rounds in the amateur draft.
USC Aiken's Travis Howard was a first team selection as he drove in over 100 runs this year in leading the Pacers to the NCAA Regionals.
