South Aiken wins state boys soccer title

COLUMBIA, SC - After a scoreless 80 minutes, the South Aiken Thoroughbreds scored twice in the first overtime period en route to a 2-1 victory over Eastside in the SCHSL Class AAA State Championship

The Thoroughbreds fell behind 1-0 in the first 10-minute overtime period, giving up their first goal in the playoffs.. But senior Brett Van Pelt scored less than a minute later to knot the score at 1. Later in the overtime period, The T-Breds scored on an own goal by Eastside, to give them a 2-1 lead they would not give up.

This is the 2nd time in 5 years that South Aiken has won the state championship. They finish the season at 19-1
