BOSTON, MA--Former Atlanta Braves John Smoltz will take to the mound in Augusta Thursday in a rehab appearance for the Greenville Drive.
The Boston Globe is quoting Red Sox manager Terry Francona that Smoltz, who's trying to come back at the age of 42, was suppose to pitch in Florida in extended spring training. But due to impending bad weather, the Sox will have Smoltz join the Greenville Drive as they take on the Jackets.
Smoltz is on a 21 day rehab stint and to keep him on schedule Francona said this is the best for him.
