As the playoffs approach for Georgia high schools, so to do the problems in Region 3-AA, where it seems nobody wants to be alone.
Here's how it looks right now.
Jefferson County is alone at the top with a 5 and 0 region record, followed by Swainsboro at 4 and 1. Then it's Westside, Screven County and Laney, all tied with 3 and 2 records in region play with Josey right behind at 2 and 3.
So 6 teams have a legitimate shot at the postseason with only 4 spots to give out.
It should get even more interesting in the next two weeks when each of the 6 teams face at least one other contender.
"There are so many different scenarios that could pop up, just who beats who," said Westside head coach Gerald Barnes. "We have to take care what we can. If we do that, we'll see where we are after that."
The Patriots themselves still have Josey and Screven County left before the regular season ends.
