EVANS, Ga--Evans beat Glynn Academy Thursday 7-1 to advance to the third round of the Georgia state playoffs.

The Knights broke open a 1-1 game in the sixth by putting six runs on the board for the winning margin.

Tyler Barden pitched well for the Knights as they advance to the state quarterfinals. The Knights scored first in the 2nd on a fielders choice, then took the lead for good in the sixth.

Evans will travel to Loganville in the best of three series starting Tuesday.

In Thomson, the Bulldogs fall to Northside, Columbus 4-3. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 3-0 lead but couldn't hold on as they fall to the Patriots. Northside pushed a run across in the 7th for the winning margin.

Thomson played the game without coach Terry Holder. Holder was ejected from last night's game and was forced to sit this one out.
