AUGUSTA, GA--Robi Estrada's overthrow of first base on Juan Perez's one-out groundball to the Bowling Green Hot Rods shortstop scored Wendell Fairley from second, giving the Augusta GreenJackets a 2-1 win in front of their biggest crowd of the year. The sixth sellout crowd of the year at Lake Olmstead Stadium saw Augusta break a four-game losing streak.

Bowling Green scored in the first when Henry Wrigley's two-out double brought Isaias Velasquez home from second. The Jackets answered when Perez's solo home run to open the fourth - his second of the year - tied the game at one, where it would stay into the eighth.

A pitchers' duel developed between Mike Loree of the GreenJackets and Matt Moore and Neil Schenk of the Hot Rods. Moore was lifted after 4.1 innings due to a high pitch count but was marvelous for Bowling Green, striking out nine and yielding one run on three hits with three walks. Schenk relieved Moore and was just as good, keeping the Jackets off the board with 2.1 scoreless frames of one-hit baseball. He struck out three.

Loree, in a no decision, provided his best outing of the year. He threw 7.1 innings, yielding just the run in the first, on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts. After Wrigley's double in the second, Loree retired 18 of the next 19 hitters he faced. The righty out of Villanova threw just 76 pitches on the night.

Daniel Runzler worked the last 1.2 innings to get his first win of the year. Runzler (0-1) did not allow a hit or run and struck out a batter. Marquis Fleming (0-1) was on for Bowling Green in the eighth and allowed just the game-winning unearned run on one hit in the loss.

The crowd of 4,719 at Lake Olmstead Stadium was the GreenJackets' biggest of the year and was Augusta's sixth sellout in 15 home dates this season.

The GreenJackets will look for their second in a row on Friday night, sending Eric Surkamp (1-1, 4.50) to the mound to face Shane Dyer (0-2, 3.81). First pitch is 7:05 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on WRDW-AM 1630 and online at You may purchase seats by calling 706-922-WINS or online at
