AUGUSTA, GA--When Glenn Hills won the state title two years ago, Shawn Allen played a large role in their performance. Heck in the title game he poured 18 to lead the Spartans. Wednesday, even a bigger accomplishment by signing to play college ball.
The senior signed on the dotted line and will attend Morehouse College in the fall. It's been quite the journey for Allen, who you may remember was transplanted from New Orleans by hurricane Katrina three years ago. Engineering is the plan in college and there was a lot of thought that went into deciding on Morehouse.
"It's historically a black college and there's been a lot of names for the school...Martin Luther King, Steven Jackson and all them, and the team feel. I knew it was going to come eventually if I play the game right and do what I had to do and it would come." said Shawn Allen
Allen was also considering some Peach Belt schools including Augusta State, but in the end, engineering and the Atlanta school won the battle.
