Monday May 4, 2009
AUGUSTA,GA--Aquinas boys golf team picked up a state title Monday afternoon with a six shot win at Forest Hills in Augusta.

The Fighting Irish have been close the last couple of years coming in third last year and finishing second two years ago, but have gotten over the hump and win the title.

Ryan Sather paced the Irish with a three under 69 while Anthony Spence and Nick Edry both shot a two under 70. Edry won the individual title a year ago.

"It's been a long season and we worked really hard and been in some tournaments this year" said head coach Chase Caldwell "We kind of struggled early on but things kind of came together towards the end. Six under par, I can't be more proud of my guys this year."
