McCormick, SC (April 30, 2009)…Former Michigan State University golfer Matthew Harmon (Grand Rapids, MI) fired an opening round seven-under par 65 at the Savannah Lakes Village Classic over the 7032 yard, par 72 Monticello Golf Club to grab the first round lead by one stroke over Andrew Dresser (Carrollton, TX) and current NGA Hooters Tour money leader Ted Potter (Silver Springs, FL), both finishing with six under par rounds of 66.
Starting Fridays second round two strokes back of the former Spartan are Keegan Bradley (Huntington Station, NY), Matthew Rosenfeld (Plano, TX), Thomas Hagler (Rocky Face, GA) and Nathan Stamey (Bluffton, SC) each posting rounds of five under par 67.
A group of nine golfers remain three strokes back after four under par rounds of 68. This group includes Tommy Biershenk (Boiling Springs, SC), Rob Oppenheim (Andover, MA), Ramon Bescansa (Santiago, Spain), Michael Laverty (Mission Viejo, CA), Ian Parnaby (San Antonio, TX), Travis Bertoni (Paso Robles, CA), Matthew Anderson (Minneapolis, MN) and Nate Balanis (Valdosta, GA).
Vince Hatfield (Greenwood, SC) heads up the rest of the local contingency at the Savannah Lakes Village Classic by posting a two under par round of 70 in his first effort while Adam Hart (Blythewood, SC) finished with a one under par round of 71.
