AUGUSTA, GA--Taylor Ayers was far and away on a short list of top players in the area this year. Today, she reaps the rewards of her ability and talent by signing to play basketball at Virginia Tech.
With family and friends on hand, Ayers put pen to paper and is joining the Hokie nation. One of the top scorers in the area, Ayers played a large role in the success of the Wildcats and helped lead them to the state semifinals. Virginia Tech actually entered the game late but when they came a calling, Ayers took notice.
"It was like towards the end of February and they had contacted coach (Otis) Smart." said Taylor Ayers "Then they were talking to me about it and I started thinking about it and I was like A.C.C. school, I was like..whoa. I basically based it on education becaus they have a good biology program and I want to be a dentist so that's why."
Ayers said there were a few other schools involved, but it was the academics of Tech that pushed them over the top as the school to go to.
