AUGUSTA,Ga- Matt LeZotte has been a winner pretty much everywhere he's gone. He played at Westside where he stared, then at James Madison, he led the team to a Division 1-AA national title. The last few years he's been on the sidelines as an Aquinas football assistant. Now , the reigns are his.
Today the 27 year old LeZotte was formally introduced to run the Fighting Irish program as he takes over for Bill Tenore who leaving the program for a job back in his home town in Ohio. LeZotte is hoping the transition will be a smooth one and is looking forward to running the program
"Every head coach is going to have their own ways of doing things" said new coach Matt LeZotte "We started doing things a certain way and coach Tenore took a lot of input from us assistant coaches and we did things the right way. We're going to continue to do things the right way and we may tweak a few things here and there but the expectations have been set and the norms have been set from the guys work ethics so we're just going to try to move on from there."
LeZotte is pulling double duty..he's also the track and field coach with Aquinas. LeZotte's brother Tony has been an assistant in the past, but right now he's playing ball in France and could return for the season.
