AUGUSTA, Ga.---Dip Metress will not be the next new coach of Georgia Southern, as the Eagles have decided to name Georgia Tech assistant Charlton Young to lead the program. He was announced late Thursday morning as the new coach.
Georgia Southern had received permission to talk with Metress about the opening but never did bring him in for an interview. Metress has gone 115 and 43 with the Jaguars and baring something else coming up, will be back on the sidelines next year.
Young is taking over the job left vacant when Jeff Price resigned shortly after the season ended.
