With the Masters right around the corner, so too is the NGA Hooters Tour event in McCormick.
Today, the event had some kick-off activities as they gear up for the ninth annual Savannah Lakes Village Classic. The stop is among one of the favorites of the Hooters Tour exceutives. It also has seen some now big names play in the events including, Vaughn Taylor, Camilo Villegas and Masters champion Zach Johnson. The community itself though is what has made the tourney the premier stop of them all.
"It's more the norm in your smaller communities" said regional tournament director Ryan Waters. "It's like, you're a bigger deal, you don't get lost in the shuffle like you do sometimes in a St. Louis or a Chicago, larger market. The community really adopts as their signature event, which in turn makes a great event for our players."
The first round of the tournament will be Thursday, April 30. Aiken product Kevin Kisner walked away with the first-place check last year.
