Pacers back in top 10, ASU now 11th

KANSAS CITY - Behind a three-game winning streak and a top 15 win over the weekend, the USC Aiken men’s basketball team moved back into the top 10 at No. 9 in the latest NABC Division II poll released on Tuesday afternoon.

The ninth-ranked Pacers are 15-4 overall and 10-2 in the Peach Belt Conference. They are currently tied with No. 17 Georgia College & State for first in the PBC.

The current three-game winning streak by the Pacers started with a dominating 87-60 win over PBC foe UNC Pembroke. They followed that up with a convincing 81-76 home win over then No. 12 and current No. 15 Armstrong Atlantic State on Saturday, Jan. 31.

Last night, USC Aiken picked up a 15-point win over Clayton State at the Convocation Center, besting the Lakers, 69-54.

The victory over Clayton State on Monday, Feb. 2 means that the Pacers have not lost a regular season game at home since moving into the Convocation Center during the 2007-08 season. USC Aiken is currently 22-0 during the regular season in its home arena.

The Pacers are a perfect 16-0 against Peach Belt teams during the regular season inside the Convocation Center.

The Augusta State men fall a few places and are now #11 in the country. The Jaguars are 15 and 4 overall, 9 and 3 in the Peach Belt conference. The lost twice in the last week, thus having dropped in the poll.

Meanwhile the USC Aiken women are still ranked #23 in the nation. Pacers are battling for the top spot in the conference as well and take on Francis Marion tomorrow night.
