CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) -- Clemson running back C.J. Spiller will return to school for his senior season instead of entering the NFL draft.
Thursday was the deadline for eligible underclassmen to decide on whether to head for the pros.
Spiller said after thinking long and hard about it, he thought the right decision was to come back to school.
Spiller's announcement was met with cheers from the many teammates who crowded into the room where the news conference was held.
Draft projections had the 5-foot-11, 195-pound Spiller as a second-round pick. Spiller led the Tigers with 1,770 all-purpose yards this season. He missed a game with a pulled hamstring.
