Two Bulldogs Heading To Senior Bowl

Mobile, AL --- The Georgia Bulldogs are sending two players to the 2009 Under Armour Senior Bowl. Bowl officials announcing Tuesday that wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi and defensive tackle Corvey Irvin have accepted invitations to the January 24th game. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 pm (CT) in Mobile’s Ladd-Peebles Stadium and the game will be televised by the NFL Network.

Massaquoi heads to Mobile on the heels of a fantastic senior campaign. The Charlotte, North Carolina native recorded career highs this season in receptions (11 vs. Ga. Tech), receiving yards (191 vs. Kentucky) and touchdowns (3 vs. Ga. Tech). He also had four games in which he had 100-plus yards receiving and has caught a pass in 33 consecutive games.

A first team All-SEC selection by SEC Coaches, Massaquoi enters next week’s bowl game against Michigan State with 910 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns on the year. For his career, he has 157 receptions for 2,272 yards and 16 scores.

In 10 starts this season, Irvin notched 31 tackles and 23 quarterback pressures. The 6-4, 292 pounder enjoyed his best game of the season in the Bulldogs opener against Georgia Southern. Irvin had a career high six tackles, a sack and a pass break-up in the win over the Eagles. He also served as the team’s defensive captain in 2008.
