USC Aiken’s men’s basketball team remained ranked second for the third consecutive week in the latest NABC/Division II Coaches Poll. Meanwhile, Augusta State moved up a spot to number 3.
The Pacers, who are a perfect 4-0 on the year, are one of two Peach Belt teams ranked inside the top three with Augusta State checking in at No. 3. The ranking of third is the highest ranking ever for the Jaguars. Findlay started the year ranked No. 1 and they have not fallen from their perch atop the standings.
Findlay and USC Aiken have both been ranked first and second all season, but losses by last week’s third- and seventh-ranked teams have caused a shuffle in rest of the top 10 this week. The end result has teams from the Peach Belt Conference holding two of the top three spots and a significant group of teams from the Great Lakes Valley Conference dotting the second half of this week’s poll.
Findlay and USC Aiken retain the top two spots after opening conference play on a winning note last week, but Central Oklahoma lost at West Texas A&M to fall four spots to No. 7. Augusta State moved into UCO’s spot at No. 3, while Southwest Baptist and Gannon also moved up one spot each to fill out the top five.
