The new era of womens basketball at Augusta State is underway with Tes Sobomehin taking over for the reigns as new head coach. Sobomehin takes over for Greg Wilson and hopes to lead the Lady Jags back to the big dance.
While the conference isn't giving the team a lot of credit picking them seventh, they might be able to sneak up on a few people. They return six players who saw plenty of action and that experience could go a long way in making a transition with a new coach a smooth one.
"She brings a lot to the team being new", says junior Jasmine Godley. "And for most of us, this being the first year under a woman coach. she just comes with fresh ideas, and we're just learning and she knows our goals. It's almost as if she were always here."
"We've had a couple of social outings. We went camping for a retreat and you get to know a lot about people when you go in the woods," says Sobomehin. "So, it's been a really good transition and we all want to do one thing and that's play basketball so once we start practice, everything is pretty easy from there."
The Jags have an exhibition game next week and will officially start their season on November 22nd.
