Augusta, Ga--Just a little more then 25 hours from now the Augusta Lynx will be on ice at the James Brown Arena for their season opener. Mississippi is in town to kick off the season.
John Marks makes his coaching debut for the Lynx and has plenty of new faces on the bench. Eight guys on the roster are under the age of 24 with very little professional experience. Might be some growing pains early on, but on paper, there's plenty of talent. Even Marks, the winningest coach in league history, knows he has to be a little patient.
"As I've gotten older, I've gotten more patient" said Lynx coach John Marks "I found out that kicking garbage cans and other things is just hard on the feet. Players are going to make some mistakes, as long as there's effort I know they'll correct them."
"We have a few guys that are returning, they'll probably take on more of a leadership role" said assistant captain Tim Branham "Yea I definitley feel a little bit more, I don't want to say pressure, but a little more responsibility."
Lynx host Mississippi Friday night, face off is at 7:35.
