NEW YORK, NY—Head Golf Coach Mike Carlisle and the University of South Carolina Aiken men's golf team learned today that they are ranked No. 1 in the third Golf World/Nike Golf Division II Coaches’ Poll of the fall season. The poll combines the resources of Golf World magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
USC Aiken is the new number one team, earning three of the 15 first-place votes. The Pacers won their second tournament in four starts this fall, taking the title at the AFLAC/Cougar Invitational.
Four other schools also received first-place votes in this week’s poll.
Rounding out the top-five are Florida Southern (T-2), Sonoma State (T-2), Central Oklahoma (No. 4) and Columbus State (No. 5).
Sonoma State (No. 6), Central Oklahoma (No. 7), Columbus State (No. 8), Chico State (No. 9) and Hawaii-Hilo (No. 10) cracked the top-10. Peach Belt Conference foe Lander (No. 11), Coker (T-16), CSU-San Bernardino (No. 18), CSU-Monterey Bay (No. 20) all moved into the top-25
