Aiken, SC -- On the first official day of practice, USC Aiken hit the court at the stroke of midnight to start basketball practice.

The Sporting News says the Pacers are number one in the nation and return all but one starter off last year's record setting team.

Chris Commons, who was co-conference player of the year returns and will lead a very talented squad. The Pacers also add depth at center with Josh Dollard of Auburn transferring in. The expectations have certainly changed.

"I think we have a great group of leaders." said Pacer coach Vince Alexander "Our seniors’ do a phenomenal job in making sure guys stay focused. I think our guys are ready; I think they're going to come out and play hard and we know the target is on our back now and we just have to come out and play every game as hard as we can."

"For the school it's incredible. I mean we talk about it everyday from the fans point and we want to make them happy," said Chris Commons. "As far as us, we're just trying to get back where we were last year and go even further."

The Pacers start the season with an exhibition contest against the Clemson Tigers at Littlejohn Coliseum.
