BATAVIA, Ohio – Augusta State shot a seven-over 295 Tuesday and took second place in the Cincinnati Women’s Fall Invitational at Elks Run Golf Course. The tournament marked the season opener for the Lady Jaguars, who were making their debut under first-year head coach Kevin McPherson.
ASU senior Mary Carmen Betancourt led four Lady Jags in the top 20 with a solo second-place finish at one-under 215 (71-67-77). Junior Tamara Luccioli paced ASU with a one-under 71 in the final round and posted the best finish of her collegiate career with a tie for third at five-over 221 (75-75-71). Seniors Anna Lindeborg and Emilie Geury tied for 16th and 20th, respectively, with Geury signing for a one-over 73 and Lindeborg managing a four-over 76. Junior Sarah Mooney tied for 33rd after a three-over 75, while Betancourt didn’t count towards the team score after a five-over 77.
Georgia State captured the team title by 16 shots over ASU, while the Lady Panthers’ Iliska Verwey took medalist honors with a six-under 210 total, five shots in front of Betancourt.
