Village of Pinehurst, SC-- Augustan 18 year old Patrick Reed has advanced to the semifinals of the U.S. Amateur Golf Championship in North Carolina this afternoon.

Reed, who moved to Augusta from Louisiana in December, defeated Graham Hill four and three to advance. He'll next take on Danny Lee, the top ranked amateur in the next round on Saturday.

Reed actually lost the first hole but by the 10th had turned that into a two hole lead in the match play format. On 14, Reed hit a great bunker shot setting up another win before closing out the match on the next hole.

The 18 year old is a freshmen at The University of Georgia but has missed the first week of classes to play in the U.S. Amateur. If he wins tomorrow, he'll automatically receive an invitation to play in the Masters.
