AUGUSTA, Ga.−The Augusta Lynx have agreed to terms with defenseman Jamie McKinven, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations John Marks announced today.

“Jamie is a good decision-maker and very steady on the backend,” Marks said. “I’ve always said defensemen are like wine in that they get better with age, and I expect Jamie to continue his development with the Lynx.”

McKinven, 26, had an assist and 19 penalty minutes in 13 regular-season games with the Lynx last season, his first as a professional. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound native of Kingston, Ontario, also had a goal and eight penalty minutes in five Kelly Cup Playoff games last season. Prior to turning pro, McKinven had 11 points (two goals, nine assists) and 61 penalty minutes in 56 career games with Clarkson University of the Eastern College Athletic Conference from 2003-04 through 2005-06.
