Hoffa Finishes Seventh

Beijing, China--

Tomasz Majewski of Poland won the men's shot put at the Olympics
Friday evening (Beijing time). His winning throw was a personal best
of 70 feet, 6 1/2 inches.

Lakeside High School and University of Georgia graduate Reese Hoffa
finished seventh in the finals. His best throw was 67 feet, 4 1/4 inches.

Christian Cantwell of the U.S. took the Silver medal. Andrei Mikhnevich of Belarus won the Bronze medal.

The third American in the finals, Adam Nelson, had three fouls and did not register a mark. He had won the Silver medal in two past Olympics.
