Greenbrier Will Have Work Cut Out For Them

Evans, Ga--For the third time in four years, Greenbrier has a new man in charge of the Pack. Instead of going outside the program, the pack tabbed Brian Smith to lead the team. He's going to have his work cut out for him this year.

Greenbrier loses 26 seniors off last year's five and six team, including quarterback Nick Richards. Not just that, only three starters on defense four or five on offense return. Those returning know it's up to them to be in charge.

"I think all our seniors need to step up a little bit. it's a lot different when you lose a lot of key players, we just need everybody to ste up" said senior T.D. Davis

While the spread offense remains for Greenbrier, the other biggest change will be region play. For the first time ever, they'lll be a 5-A school meaning trips to Atlanta instead of Brunswick or Ware County. Some success in the summer could pay off in the fall

"Our offense is kind of the same because we're going to be passing a lot." said senior Dylan Turner "I like our coach a lot. The new region, I don't think it's going to be any tougher, we're actually going to have shorter trips then last year when we went all the way down to Brunswick."

"We actually went to camp and competed against some 5-A programs and did very well" said new coach Brian Smith "We're looking forward to it, it's a challenge, we know that. There's a lot of expectations but we're ready to meet them."

Right out of the gates, Greenbrier gets cross town rival Evans on August 29th.
