Evans,GA--A year ago Evans did something they hadn't done in quite some time, host a post season game. This year, they're looking for more. Whether they accomplish the goal remain to be seen, but the expectations are in place.
While the team lost a handfull of big time playmakers, it's still a confident bunch. With a solid core of offensive linemen and defensive backs, evans may lean on them in the early part of the season. One thing's for sure, the Knights know what happened in the past will have no baring on this year.
"It's a new year, I mean we good, but let's put that behind us and let's start working about this year" said Wes Ivie "I know our offensive line is going to work hard everyday and I trust the rest of my team will do that also."
"We were happy with a good year but we're not satisfied" said head coach Marty Jackson "We'd like to go further and so we started January 5th in the weight room in the off season. These guys want to step it up."
While there's still competition for the quarterback slot, look for Jonathan Finch to step up in the backfield. He showed a lot late last year. Believe it or not, if you listen to the players, this team may be closer then ever.
"We just have to play as a team and no matter what the opponent is, no matter if they're 0-10 or 10-0 or they're undefeated, you have to play each one like they're the team that's going to beat you." said Matt Wehman
"Everybody's on the same page" said senior Reuben Faloughi "I don't think there's every been an Evans team like this. It's about team this year. The emphasis is about teamwork.
Knights open the season on the 29th with Greenbrier.
