GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) -- Miami is in the second round of the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament, rallying from a 12-point deficit to beat Clemson 66-63. Denis Clemente hit a go-ahead three-pointer with about 50 seconds left to help the Hurricanes avoid their second-straight first-round exit.
Miami advances to face top-seeded and third-ranked Duke in Friday's quarterfinals.
Vernon Hamilton scored 17 points for the Tigers, who dominated the boards and hit ten three-pointers but shot just 29 percent for the game.
Clemson still had a chance to tie it when Clemente and Anthony King each went one-for-two at the line in the final 21 seconds, but the Tigers came up empty on two possessions. Shawan Robinson attempted two three-pointers -- one was blocked and the other one bounced off the rim
at the buzzer.
