Two Down, One to Go For Mississippi Golfer

EVANS, Ga. — Chad Bounds of Meridian, Miss., leads The Club Car Junior hosted by Charles Howell III at 9-under-par 135. Victoria Kiser of Orlando, Fla., leads the Girls Division after posting 3-under-par 141.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, The Club Car Junior hosted by Charles Howell III is a 54-hole stroke play event being held at Champions Retreat Golf Club. The tournament field consists of 75 boys and 23 girls, ages 12-18, from 13 states. The Boys Division are playing the par-72 course at 7,060 yards, while the Girls Division is being played at 6,312 yards.

Bounds followed up his round of 8-under-par 64 in the first round with a 1-under-par 71 that featured three birdies and two bogeys. His round consisted of accurate drives and consistent iron play, as he hit 11 of 14 fairways as well as 15 greens. “I made myself think about my next shot today, which was tough after yesterday, shooting so well,” Bounds said. “I made a 35-foot putt for birdie on No. 4. It was my first for the day and gave me confidence for the round.” Bounds added that he was very happy with how he has been playing and couldn’t ask to play better through the first 36 holes.

Bobby Wyatt of Mobile, Ala., sits in second at 4-under-par 140. In a three-way tie for third at 2-under-par 142 are Jay Vandeventer of Bristol, Tenn., Steven Fox of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Will Snipes of Rocky Face, Ga.

Kiser has an 11-stroke lead in the Girls Division after the second round. She hit 13 fairways and 16 greens to help her make five birdies.
“Everything is going well with my game,” Kiser said. “I made a couple big putts which helped me today. Also, the girls I played with are great sports and encouraged me.”

Kendall Wright of Suwanne, Ga., sits in second at 8-over-par 152. In a four-way tie for third at 9-over-par 153 are Kelly Drack of Melbourne, Fla., Erica Popson of Davenport, Fla., Alexandra Milan of Lutz, Fla., and Melissa Edmonson of Coral Gables, Fla.
