Eugene, Or--Reese Hoffa is a guy you can't help but root for. The Lakeside product took up shot put late in his high school career but quickly became one of the best. Now, year's later, he's one of the best in the world.
Tonight the reigning World Champion qualified for his second Olympic Games by winning the qualifyer with a toss of 72 feet six and a quarter inches. The reigning world champ went to the games four years ago in Athens, but failed to qualify for the finals. This year, Hoffa is one of the favorite to win it all, along with his two teammates. The games in Beijing come up in just over a month.
