Evans-Ga--Summer sports camps can be found just around pretty much every corner this time of year. But a baseball camp in Evans this week featured a bona fide big leaguer, who just happens to be an Evans product.
Todd Greene, who spent 11 years with a handfull of teams was on hand to give instructions to about 20 kids this week. Greene's playing days are now behind him after shoulder surgery put the former catcher on teh shelf. This is the first year of doing camps and he was looking forward to doing something for the kids.
"It's exciting just to be able to come out and teach kids how to play baseball the proper way" said Todd Greene " And to be able to do it with ex-teammates of mine with Rodney and Ricky."
"I just needed a baseball camp for summer and I thought well, he's a professional baseball player, lets go to Todd Greene" added 10 year old Jeremy Clements.
Yea, kids are that smart when it comes to Greene. The former big leaguers had a little help this week with life long friends and current coaches Ricky Beale and Rodney Holder. Greene is a current scout for the padres.
