Augusta, GA – The Augusta GreenJackets (41-28, 5-2) rallied for their third straight win with a 6-5 victory over the Greenville Drive (40-30, 3-4) Wednesday afternoon. Angel Villalona drove in the winning run in the ninth inning with a two-out single and Bond supplied three RBIs and a homer to pace the offense.
Trailing 5-4 entering the ninth inning Shane Jordan pinch-hit and drew a walk then stole second base. Two batters later with two outs in the frame, Bond came through with an RBI single to tie the game at 5-5 and then took second on the throw to home from right-fielder Ryan Kalish. Garrett Baker was then intentionally walked with Villalona on deck and Villalona connected for a single to right scoring Bond.
Andrew De La Garza (6-1) recorded the win in relief working a perfect top of the ninth. Felix Ventura (2-1) suffered the loss and his second blown save of the season.
Augusta trailed by three runs twice in the game before rallying all the way back in the ninth inning to win the game. The Drive jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning on a two-run homer from Jared Stanley and a two-out solo homer from David Marks. Bond put Augusta on the board with his first professional home run, a two-run homer in the third, to trim the lead to 3-2.
