FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) -- The Atlanta Falcons have signed
sixth-round draft pick Thomas Brown, a running back from Georgia.
Brown (5-8, 204), who was signed on Wednesday, will compete for playing time behind Michael Turner and Jerious Norwood at running ack while also playing on special teams. He returned kickoffs during his first minicamp.
Brown is fifth on Georgia's career records with 2,646 yards rushing and fourth with 3,767 all-purpose yards. Brown, from Tucker High near Atlanta, rushed for 779 yards and set a career high with 10 touchdowns as a senior at Georgia. He was named Southeastern Conference player of the week after he rushed for 184 yards with three touchdowns against Mississippi. Terms of Brown's contract were not released.
